Cafe 50's Venice Served An Epic Thai Curry Chicken
I miss that place. Quality food for weekday locals. There was a Thai Curry Chicken hidden in the menu. Best I had. The staff kept telling me the owner of that location was Thai, but I never saw him. Cafe 50’s burned in 2017. It never returned.
Some of the staff moved to the West LA Cafe 50s, which apparently is not connected to the guy with the Thai Curry Chicken. When I ask them questions about the closing, shit gets a little weird. I dropped it.
And shit’s gotten weird on that corner. Whatever the fuck Cafe Gitane was never launched. I walked in during their build-out a few years ago. Place wasn’t close to ready. A stressed out French woman and dude were in there. She yelled at me and I left. C’est la vie.
Lake and Lincoln is in a down cycle, though the encampments and RVs around Rite Aid are gone (Traci and 41.18). So is Rite Aid. There’s currently plenty of Ghost Town Security around the half-empty lot and excellent street tacos fronting it on Lincoln. Thank god the former Ghetto Ralphs is still buzzing.
Shit goes south. I get it, and don’t want to be that old fuck whining about the good old days. I just miss the Thai Curry Chicken.
