Genuinely Worth The Spend
Venice-opoly Honors Both Its Namesakes
Mark Rago clearly loves Venice.
He’s obviously immersed in it. Just securing rights, clearances and assistance from locals and their establishments meant he had to be. The credit list for Venice-opoly is an impressive and creative cross section of the community: LINK TO CREDITS
Venice bought in.
And he honored it. Each property card is custom-designed and includes its history. Their value is determined by age: The older the establishment, the higher the price (The Venice Beach House is $310. Lincoln Hardware is $90).
There are also historical Venice landmarks (Beyond Baroque, First Baptist Church, Kinney-Tabor House), each with an appropriately high value and history lesson attached.
It’s Venice, and Rago clearly anticipates blowback. Per his notes: “Every person doing a project like this would have done it differently, so I hope you like my version and enjoy many nights of fun, in addition to learning some new things along the way.” LINK
I enjoyed it and appreciate the required time and care Rago spent creating it. It. successfully reminds us how unique and important each square is to Venice.
The morning after my first time playing Venice-opoly, I stopped by Elco Welding to say hi to Bob.
